I know this is tough- ballpark sizes for boy
I need to buy a few pairs of boys pants- not jeans- for a 12 year old boy. He's about 5'5" and average build.
I can't ask his parents. I asked him, he said he didn't know and I don't want to make him unfortable or nag him.

According to Wikipedia it looks like he's be a 16 or an 18. That seems big to me though.

According to this size chart on the GAP it would be a 13/14

my stepson is 12 he will be 13 in 2 weeks, we bought him to size 18. he was wearing 16 at 12. he is skinny but long. I usually by regular size instead of husky.

It seems like it and even when I am in the store the pants seem huge but they arent. At that age I am pretty sure anything smaller would be high waters on.
Just to elaborate on my previous post, my son isnt tall, he is about average for his height i believe.

My DSS was wearing a 12 at 13 y/o and he is small - he is about 25 lbs less than the average kid his age so I think a 16 sounds about right.

Thanks ladies- I appreciate it. The kid closest in size to him in my class said he wears a 20- so I'll probably get a 16 and 18 and then exchange the one that doesn't fit.
