WWYD - Weight Watchers related
So, I haven't tracked online since July. I go every week to get weighed in by them, mostly because I have a crappy scale.
Am I really paying $40 a month to just have them weigh me? I am about 5lbs from my goal....should I keep doing what I'm doing until I lose that weight, or should I stop my membership - get a good scale for home, and just keep at it this way?

It depends what keeps you motivated. For me I need them to weigh me and I need to go to the meetings. I can weigh myself at home but it doesn't mean the same to me as that little sticker in the book.

If you're only 5 lbs from your goal, I'd stick with it so you can become a lifetime member and go for free!

I could have wrote this word for word. When I first started DH said to me "Once you get the hang of it, you can WI at home". I said "No Way". I need those meetings! LOL

See, I don't go to the meetings. No time, but I feel the same way. I need someone to hold me accountable for my weight.
Ok - I'll keep with it. Thanks girls!

Re: WWYD - Weight Watchers related
I do it online. It's $19 per month. I never go to meetings.
Both DH and I joined but DH is now only 20 Lbs from his goal. Still tracks. Converted everything to a spreadsheet and still does WW but he cancelled his account.
I still have my account open but honestly I don't track anymore online. I have not been for a couple of months. I do it mentally all day. So I am thinking about cancelling mine soon.
We know what to do. We know the points. We have the point electronic calculator.
It's mostly just motivation not to go off track if you don't go to meetings. But we never did anyway. We still weigh ourselves on the same day, etc...
If I were you I would cancel. You could use the $40 for something else. You really have been doing well since you have not gone to meetings. As long as you stay comitted and weigh yourself.
I got a scale from Target. I got a food scale too from Target. That's all you need to stay succesful.

Re: WWYD - Weight Watchers related
I always hated the meetings so I got all the stuff and have followed it on my own for 10 yrs now. I weigh myself everyday so that I stay on track.
ETA: I agree with PP about what keeps you motivated. I could take or leave the weigh in since I always did it on my own and stayed pretty disciplined.
What if you had a buddy to whom you were accountable? That way it would be free but you'd have to report it to someone. My roommate and I used to do that and now I do it with a coworker and it seems to work! I also hold myself accountable to the Fall Fitness Thread! I go on and update after my Friday morning weigh-in!

Re: WWYD - Weight Watchers related
it is important for you to become a lifetime member? Because then you might want to stick around until you hit goal. Then you wont have to pay but comtinue to go, if you need that to keep you in check.

Re: WWYD - Weight Watchers related
You have to maintain for 12 weeks to become lifetime though, no? So I think you'll continue to pay until then.
I go to keep myself "honest", but I also go to the meetings.
