Movie Theater Birthday Parties
Has anyone ever had a birthday party for their DC at a movie theater?
I am considering doing this for DS since the other place we had planned may not work out.
What are the prices like for a theater party? Any smaller theaters out there that do parties?

Re: Movie Theater Birthday Parties
I went with my DS to one this summer at the Elwood Theatre, we saw Shrek in 3D.
It was cute, unlimited popcorn and soda/juice and we were served pizza while the movie was playing. The theatre was small though, but big enough to hold this pary (for 6 year olds).
My only complaint and maybe I'm just an old blind bat, but once they turned out the lights for the movie, it was so dark and you really couldn't see much, and they are handing out pizza to eat and then had the cake and it was impossible to see much! I wish they had at least kept some light on really dim. People were knocking into each other and eating was a chore.
I think Merrick movie theatre might do these type of parties as well.

Re: Movie Theater Birthday Parties
I had one for my 7 year old in May. We did it in Merrick. She and her friends had a great time. I chose to do it in the morning (10am) and they served bagels / juice.

Re: Movie Theater Birthday Parties
I did 2 at Merrick Cinemas and I highly recommend them if you leave near enough. Their price was great, staff was great, they didn't charge me for extra people, can't say enough nice things. I did the parties a couple years apart too so they consistently do a nice job IMO.
The parties are at 10am on Sat & Sun so people can come at 9:30. I did breakfasty foods and brought in my own. Easy stuff to eat in a movie seat, KWIM? muffins, mini croissants, oj, coffee for the parents. Everyone was settled by the movies start and a couple times kids or parents went back down to the table during the movie. Then cake when it ended. I would stay away from pizza bc of what someone mentioned earlier or it's just too early for pizza too. Unlimited popcorn & drinks came with the package. And a family pass to use for a future movie so we got passes for family of 5 both times.
