St Charles Gals
When I went for my amnio on Thursday I was informed that they only have 2 private rooms and it is $200.00 a day if you want it. So with a c-section it will be $800.00 out of pocket I am hoping it is quiet in November and I can have a double room to myself

I agree..that is nuts.
When I was there I shared a room and it really wasn't bad. Before I delivered I dropped every hint possible to my DH but he either played dumb or wasn't willing to spend that much $. In the end, it was no big deal.

I am delievering there, I do not mind sharing a room, hopefully I am there 2 nights max. No big deal ! It will give me someone to talk too!

I had a private room when I had Damien which I was so grateful for because I had a c-section and I was breastfeeding. (I am very large chested there is no being discreet for me) I couldn't imagine having someone else's family there with me. I guess I am spoiled

When I had DD, I had the first night to myself, and had a roomie the next 3 nights (c-section). It worked out fine, and I liked having the company.
If it was free, of course I would've wanted the private room, but I wasn't going to shell out the $$ on top of my $500 copay.

I didn't deliver there, but at LIJ and had a c/s and a private room. I think it was even a bit more than $200 if I remember correctly.
The way I see it...We have spent $$$ to stay at some nice hotels on vacation in the past. I'm only going to give birth 3x max, so why not treat myself for those few precious times.

when i delivered there i had the room to myself tues-thursday then thursday night i got a roomate and i left friday morning so it wasnt too bad. I know this time it will probaly be more busy though cause it seems alot of people on here alone are delivering in st charles in december lol

I delivered at Stony Brook and had a private room, just had to share the bathroom with the room next door, lucky me there was only someone there on my last night (I was there 4 nights = c-section)

I find the whole idea of sharing a hospital room crazy. Here in CO you dont' share rooms with anyone and you labor, deliver and stay all in one room.

I feel the same way (especially the 4 days with a c/s)- I lucked out and had a private room for free...but I would want one each time...
