I don't know if this is going to come off the right way but...

I was thinking about joining weight watchers, but I am not sure. I want to loose about 20 lbs (15 for my pre-pregnancy size, 5 just because). Now, if you look at me I don't look overweight. Please excuse me if this sounds obnoxious, but is WW for people who are extremely overweight? I don't want to go there and feel stupid b/c I am not really heavy, YKWIM?

At WW there will be people at all different points of their weight loss journey - from just starting to trying to maintain their goal weight and you will see people of all different sizes too

You could totally do it

I was 165 and 5'5 when I joined and to tell you the truth there were women there that were heavier.....but also many that were skinnier who had been on the plan and were now maintaining

I want to lose 30 lbs and when I go to the meetings and weigh in i just go with the flow---everyone is different

I totally understand (and sometimes feel the reverse). I have over 150lbs to loose (down 46.4 now). I at first was bothered by all the ones with just 10 or less to loose.

BUT after going to the meetings and hearing all the stories, I realized there are people in the meetings that are on maintance (ie already hit there goals) and such.

Give it a shot. You've got nothing to loose but lbs!!

Why?
You want to lose 20 lbs - it doesn't matter if someone else wants to lose 100 lbs ........it's not about anyone else, it's about you!

I have been in meeting w/ women who wanted to lose 5 lbs !! (I wanted to beat them but they had every right to be there)

I always make fun of my skinny sil for going. I say they want to eat her, lol. (I can make those jokes cuz I'm so fat )

But yeah, there r plenty of ladies there that don't look overweight!

There are quite a few in my meetings that I saw on my first day and I was thinking "what is she doing here"..LOL

As I heard stories, I realized "Oooh they've been here a bit and hit goal".
They deserve to be there.

I only want to lose 15 pounds and I'm on WW! I don't go to the meetings, but for me WW is more about a healthy lifestyle than just about losing weight. Go for it!

I did ww and was not overweight. I had just had my second baby and had about 5 lbs to go to be pre-pregnancy weight; however, I pretty much had back-to-back pregnancies, so that pre-pregnancy weight, while it was not overweight for my height, was higher than I wanted to be and I wanted to lose an additional 10. It worked for me, I think it's a great diet if you stick to it. It's a slower weight loss than many diet plans, but i think that is why many are able to keep it off. Good luck and you will be fine going there.

I joined years ago with some coworkers. I only had 10 to lose. It was fine.

I only wish I was at my starting weight now!

There is a woman I know who I never in a million years thought she would ever need to lose weight - she was average, but thin-average, if that makes sense - she lost 17 lbs on WW and is EXTREMELY thin now...

Definitely not for only extremely overweight people. 20 pounds is a good amount of weight to have to lose. And as someone who has been going to ww for my entire journey, I have to say that I actually liked having thin people in my meetings. It kept me motivated and many thin people have really good ideas of low fat meals. Someone who is on the skinner side tends to have great ideas about eating habits and meals. So I wouldn't be worried about it at all.

As a side note too, I use to think WW was for only extremely overweight people and I thought, oh I'm not that heavy, I don't need to join. Well I wish I joined years ago because then maybe I never would have gotten to the point I got to. WW teaches you how to eat properly and it's a great support group.

not just for extremely overweight folks at all!! i had about 15 lbs to lose-20 even to make it reallllly like my old self. i was by no means "big" or seriously overweight. i will admit that i had the thought that i didn't really need WW b/c i thought it was for major weight loss. now a good 15-17 lbs lighter than i was last april-it is the best thing i have ever done. totally worth it and totally works!
