very bad news for me
I got the worst news of my life today. I went to RE for CD3 bloodwork and u/s and possibly get clomid for PCOS. He told me my DH sperm analysis is very bad, that we have to do IVF and we have about 70% chance with IVF. I can not breathe, eat or drink. How is this possible? Tell me what below mean. Count- 10 million Motility - 19% Morphology - 7%
Please tell me how bad 19% is. I do not think I want to live anymore

Re: very bad news for me
was this the only sperm analysis? if so , perhaps another one after some meds or looking into reasons further for hubbys sa count. personally not sure what the count should be...but 30 percent chance at ivf...for me...i would be jumping happy!! remember with ivf...his spermies are right there....i hope someone can fill you in a little more... good luck xoxox

Re: very bad news for me
Oh sweetie dont be so upset! Your RE sounds like a real a$$ for not giving you all the information - sorry but i have a bias against RE's since they seem to push IVF as the only answer when there are many other options (but ones that dont put $$ in their pocket)
What you need to do is get your DH to a urologist to get checked out. There most likely is an explanation for his count and most likely a treatment that can put him in normal ranges.
My DH has ZERO sperm and after only 3 months had normal counts!
I also had my DH on a supplement concoction that copies the ingredents of ProXeed (recommended by top urologists)
Mens Rainbow Lite Multi Vit CoQ10 3omg L-carnetine 1000mg Acetyl-l-carnetine 500mg
Good luck

Re: very bad news for me
First
It's not the end of the world for sure. There are things to help motility. Also even if you have to do IVF, 70% is unbelievable odds.
My DH has great counts and because of my age our chances are in the single digits.
I think you may want to sit down with the RE and discuss all options.
Good luck.

Re: very bad news for me
I sent you an FM.
I would ask the urologist for things he can do to help. Then redo the analysis in a month or two.
70% @ IVF is really good statistics.

Dr. T is my Dr. too...but let me tell you..I think SIRM PUSHES IVF!!! I know another lady on another board who went to see him three weeks ago for a mere consultation and now she is signed up for the October cycle!! No reason for this...she has PCOS but just had a chemical a few months back and is in her 30's. All else is well, Do NOT rush into this...explore your options.
One such option that I have heard of and that I have my hubby on is Fertilaid...many say that it has increased their motility and counts.

Re: very bad news for me
another issue that I do not O on my own, probably have PCOS. But he did CD3 u/s today and he saw " a lot of eggs floating around". No, DH did not see urologist yet, i only got the results today, i was in tears and in shock, so i signed myself up for Oct cycle. Now, I am thinking of backing off. he said only 10% with IUI for us

Re: very bad news for me
I would see the urologist and maybe wait a cycle. If you still decide to do IVF, you've only pushed it off one month. MY DH just had a zero sperm count. It's a horrible feeling. I have PCOS too. We found out that my DH doesn't have vas deferens, so we have to do IVF but I think there are a few things you can try to improve the count.
Good Luck! I feel like our urologist is pretty well informed. If you want his information, FM me. Another poster recommended him as did my RE.

Re: very bad news for me
BTW-male issues are some of the easiest to fix.
Even if you have to do IVF it will be fine. The end result will be a DC!

I saw Dr. T when he was at Columbia. He told me the same exact thing...we knew we had MF though. I've never cried so hard because I was so devastated. I was so against IVF and just honestly didn't want to have to go that route. We did end up doing IVF/ICSI and got pregnant on our first cycle with DD and it wasn't as bad as I thought at all. DHs first SA only had 1.4 million sperm so it was much worse than your DH's. He started a regimen of vitamins and by the time we started IVF/ICSI the count was up to 8 million. I would definitely have your DH see a urologist and get another SA since they tend to fluctuate alot. Antibiotics, smoking, drinking, tighty whities all effect sperm count. I can FM you a list of vitamins if you would like. Good Luck!

Re: very bad news for me
I wanted to say thank you to all who responded and sent me FMs. Today is another day, I was hoping to wake up from yesterday's nightmare, but I did not. With help and advice of a few very special people, I decided to back out of Oct IVF cycle. DH is seeing urologist at NYU this Friday, and will be loading up on vitamins. In the meantime, I will be on clomid/metformin and timed bd. I know that I might end up with IVF anyway, but I have to give it a chance before I jump that IVF wagon. Again, thanks to all
