Re: Banana Split

Ice cream.. I'm easy on the flavors though. I like most. 3 very large round scoops right on the bottom of the dish.

A ripe banana - not brown and mushy but it also can't be green and mealy. Nice and smooth and super sweet. Split it down the middle and tuck it along the sides of the ice cream.

Hot fudge is a must.. really hot fudge that starts to cool and take on that thick consistency as soon as it hits the cold ice cream. Pour it over the 2 end scoops of ice cream - and do the rest quickly so it's still warm when you get it to the table.

Crushed pineapple. Because I love it. Because it's 3 parts sweet and one little part tart. Just a heavy spoonful over the middle scoop of ice cream.

Whipped Cream. Homemade if possible because the canned stuff melts too fast and is just a little too sweet for me. I like super thick whipped cream that I can make at home with some sugar and fresh cream. Generous dollops over the toppings on each scoop.

Nuts.. but I like them lightly salted and I don't like peanuts.. it's either chopped walnuts or slivered almonds with salt on them. The salt is important for me. Dust the whipped cream with these.. and toss a few extra down the sides.

A pinch of chocolate sprinkles to finish it off.

A plump maraschino cherry (or 2) with stem - right on the center of the middle scoop.

A pair of spoons.

Someone (or ONES) I love to share it with me.
