Low Progesterone Ques
Hi Ladies, I'm new to this board. Sorry if this is a stupid ques, but I'm not sure who else to ask.
How does/did your doctor test for low progesterone?

Re: Low Progesterone Ques
It is checked through a bloodtest. Not sure when during your cycle it should be done, though.

Re: Low Progesterone Ques
Thanks, I thought it was a blood test too.
However when I asked my OB/GYN to test for progesterone issues (I spot after ovulation and my LP is 10-11 days) she said the only way to test is to get a sample of the lining. I scheduled the biopsy, but found it a little odd. Hoping somone could shed some light.

I have low progesterone and my RE found this by doing a blood test 5 days after I ovulated. I never had a sample of my lining tested.

Re: Low Progesterone Ques
No that is crazy to have a biopsy. I had blood work done 1 week after my IUI. Then everytime after when I went in for monitoring I had blood work done and they looked at my progesterone levels. Cancel that biopsy!!!

Re: Low Progesterone Ques
i've never heard of that. my gyn & re both (like PP) just did a blood test to check levels. they can also check your lining by doing a sonogram. idk why your dr. is suggesting something so invasive right out of the gate.

Re: Low Progesterone Ques
Thanks everyone. I think I'm going to go ahead with the biopsy. I read online that the test will determine the healthiness of my lining, if it can sustaine a pregnancy and will check my hormone levels.
At this point I'm willing to do anything to get some answers as to why I keep spotting and my LP is so short (which I think is the issue as to why I can't get pregnant).
I'm also getting a sonogram. . . .
If I find out anything interesting or informative I'll be sure to update this post. Thanks again.

Re: Low Progesterone Ques
Just an FYI...most people test 7 days post ovulation...some doctors mistakingly test 21 DPO but this is based upon a 28 day cycle.
