Intralipids In surance coverage Heads up!
I am on a insurance war path today !!
I was told by my primary (Blue Cross) and secondary insurance (GHI )that my intralipids were not covered. And after 98985885 phone calls, I have found out they ARE IN FACT COVERED by blue cross (in network).
There immediate answer was NO. But the lady I spoke with, didn’t even know WHAT intralipids were. She just ASSUMED that it was IF related and said no. Meanwhile it is AUTOIMMUNE related and NOT IF. The codes are totally different. I asked to speak to a manager and have them review if in home health care infusions were covered. After a lot of back n fro, they are not only covered, but covered 100%. I asked for everything in writing.
The moral of the story, insurance companies are $cum. and LIARS. Do not take anything they say for face value. (If I would have taken that first "NO" I would have ended up having to pay $500 OOP for no reason!! And if I get pregnant it would have been $500 for 20 weeks!!!) Never mention IF. Always ask for an explanation of benefits and get it in WRITING.
If anyone needs them here are the codes when calling your insurance company to see if they are covered.
B4185 and S9374.
I hope this can help someone!

Re: Intralipids In surance coverage Heads up!
I had two intralipids infusions through Trinity last year - when I called the to arrange everything they told me that "They do not deal with insurance companies" so stupid me thought that I could pay for it up front and then get reimbursed from my insurance company (which was Oxford at the time). PS Still waiting for my money $1,250!!!!
Have things changed now? Does Trinity actually help and go through insurance?

I wouldn't leave it up to them either. Trinity called them 1st and then called me and said they dont cover anything.
