What to do with a whole head of cabbage?
Any ideas on something i can make with it? Its a red cabbage. I have been putting it in my salad but was thinking of other ways to cook it.
Healthy suggestions?
Thanks

I just made one that came out pretty good. I broke it into florets and then tossed it with garlic and olive oil. Then I roasted it for about 45 minutes and topped it with parmesan cheese at the end.

That sounds really good!
I like to chop it in pieces, sautee it in olive oil and a little butter with a small chopped onion and add it to cooked bowtie pasta, season with salt and a lot of black pepper. So good.

LOL, I definitely read this wrong the first time. I did this with a head of cauliflower. Oh well, I guess it works for either.

Cabbage w/ bacon is one of my favorite side dishes (not exactly healthy, but whatever).. I usually make it w/ green cabbage, but I can't imagine it wouldn't work w/ red cabbage..
Basically fry up 5 or 6 slices of bacon well.. so they crumble.. then allow to drain on paper towel.
Reserve about 2 tbsp of the bacon fat in the pan and sautee on medium-high heat the shredded cabbage until wilted (I don't like mine over cooked)..
Hit with a bunch of fresh ground black pepper and some caraway seeds if you have 'em...
Stir in the crumbled bacon..

it's good as an asian saute. i heat up some sesame oil, slice the cabbage into strips (like cole slaw) and saute in a wok/pan with garlic, shredded ginger, rice vinegar, honey, and soy sauce...even a little minced chile if you're feeling spicy.
