68.375 pounds of it Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

it does make me a little sad, being so "close" to the whole process, especially when they send me stuff like this: (a read me and a WWYD? would you trade in the meat. I am not a very big veal person simply b/c i feel bad for the baby cow, but this sounds like he would have starved to death anyway Chat Icon Chat Icon )

Also, we’d like to know whether you’d be interested in exchanging some of the ground beef in your eighth for ‘veal-like’ ground meat, cutlets, chops or roasts. Ground veal we’ll exchange pound for pound. The other cuts we’ll figure out by the difference in value compared to ground beef.

"We don't sell veal, but this time we decided to send a one-year-old steer. He was born small, late in the season last year, and hasn't put on a lot of weight this summer. Since he wasn’t grazing as much as the rest of the herd, we think he had something like arthritis so the steady walking of grazing wasn’t that pleasurable for him. The meat is organic, from a diet of grass and mother's milk. The butcher told us the meat is like veal – very tender and lighter in color since he never used his muscles that much. "

all told, we are paying $335.

That's less than $5/ per pound for organic meat. That's awesome.

Aww, that is a sad story about the little steer, but it's different than veal (to me) because it was a specific situation, not a general practice.

I am not a huge fan of veal, but if were me personally, I'd probably get some--DH & other family members would enjoy it. I don't think I would have a moral issue with it.

Where are you putting it all? Do you have a separate freezer?
