What to look for in an architect
We are going to redormer our cape and we've met with a couple of architects.
We like one more than the other but, her price is 50% higher 
What specific things should we be looking for - I'm trying to figure out if the $$ difference is worth it.

I recently met with a few prices ranged from 1500 to 2500. Separate fees for variances were 500 to 1500 so I looked at each individual in relation to their fees.
I looked at their personality, demeanor, disposition.
Are they listening to our ideas or only pushing theirs.
Their interest level in our project.
Time span in their returning my call.
Are they flexible, easy to work with.
How many prints are included in the fee.
How many changes, adjustments are allowed.

ITA with longislemom
DH works for an architect and DH in the process of getting his license now  (we are so excited)
also see if you can drive by any jobs they have done.
DEF see the prices on changes. That is one thing I know happens ALOT. They draw u up the plans and then you get contractor quotes and they are  and you need to revise
also make sure the architect KNOWS you are on a certain budget for construction (if you are) if they are moving your bathrooms and kitchens across the house that is major work and I know when DH is told about budgets he will try to keep plumbing on the same side....like an existing bathroom on the first floor DH would try to get the upstairs bathroom in a spot where ur plumbing wont be a ridiculous job ya know.

One person said we could do two changes before the "final" plans were done. The other didn't mention that.
DH met both of them and I only met one. We like the one we both met but, her base fees are $1500 more.
She includes 2 redraws prior to the final design. Her hourly rates are $45/hr higher as well. But, she had some great ideas that we didn't even think of. She also mentioned some things structurally that seemed to be overlooked by the other architect.
Our friend is a contractor and works with them both. The less expensive one did his house (major renovations).
