Soup is very filling- the Progresso light soups are very low calorie too
Egg whites with fat free cheese and weight watchers toast
Big salad with lots of every kind of veggie and fat free dressing
Grilled cheese (weight watchers bread and fat free cheese) with tomato

Can you eat veggies?
Salads are so filling and full of fiber - If you make salad with tons of veggies and then add a lean protein, that should be a very satisfying meal with low calories.

900 calories??? 7 dyas a week? EEK!! What kind of doctor would do that??? That sounds way too low to me...
I work with a nutritionist who had me on a diet in which 2 days a week were lower than 1000 calories and that was only for a very short time period.
Lots of veggies and egg whites!

Re: I dont know if I can do it...
900 seems very low to me as well, I assume there are other health risks that require the rapid weight loss. You probably want to be very careful with your food choices to be sure you are getting adequate nutrients. I would start logging everything on a site like www.caloriecount.com so you can see that you are getting the nutrients you need.
I would stick with things high in protein and fiber to stay full longer. I would avoid canned or packaged foods because they are very high in sodium, I'd also avoid breads/cereals.
Quinoa is a grain that is high in fiber and protein, you could saute a bunch of veggies (in chicken stock or use and olive oil sprayer to reduce calories) and mix it with 2 oz of quinoa for a pretty filling meal. For breakfast 6 eggs whites has 95 calories and 22g of protein (I'd use real eggs not the packaged "egg whites" to avoid the excess sodium) you can cook those will a ton of veggies, maybe add a bit of parmesan and nutmeg for more flavor.
I'd also start using unsulphured molasses (blackstrap) in your oatmeal to help add iron and potassium in your diet.
Good Luck, you can do it! I am sure it is a temporary measure and as soon as your Dr feels your health is stable he'll help you add in more calories .

Actually for Cushings syndrome you can go to 820 calories. I can retain over 20lbs of fluid in a short amount of time which affects my breathing and other complications so thats why so drastic.

Oh wow! I am sorry that you have to do this. It can be very draining being at such a low caloric intake. Are there any special foods that you are supposed to stay away from with cushings syndrome? Foods that I ate were egg whites with fat free cheese, broccoli, asparagus and oatmeal. I always had oatmeal as my carb in the morning and then throughout the day i stuck to lean protein sources and veggies. That kept me at 900 calories when i needed to.

Yeah I am trying but I keep going over. I really have to figure it out since its for my health. We are this drastic right now I think to get a handle on the fluid along with Lasix water pills. I will try some of th emeal suggestions for variety--that seems to be my enemy right now.

THe nutritionist I use provided me with an excel spreadsheet where I can plug in the nutrition info for everything I am eating and it totals them and the calories for the day out at the bottom. I fyou want a copy of it please send me your email and I will get it to you! It could help!
