Hardwood or Carpet
We are going to be redoing the hardwood floors in the living room/hallway. We don't know if we should redo the hardwood in our bedroom and DS's bedroom. I am leaning more towards getting carpet in our bedroom and leaving DS's bedroom hardwood.
What does everyone else think?

If you want to leave 1 of the rooms as carpet, your DS room is probably better since it is a softer play surface for him (if that is a factor for you)

I don't know, I have always been a fan of the hardwoods, I feel like carpet harbors alot of dust and allergens, they are better for children to play on though...

hardwood and I have 3 kids.. I think it's cleaner and if you want cushion in the kids' rooms, just put down an area rug.

we refinished the whole upstairs of the house (hi-ranch)
we were on the fence about doing the bedrooms but we figured that we were already making the mess with all the sanding and the carpets needed to be replaced anyway so it made sense for us to redo everything. if we change our minds in a few years when we have kids, we can always put a rug down.

this is what i will do when i have kids someday. i prefer hardwood as its easier to clean and i think its beautiful! i just got mine re-done (re-sanded and polyurethaned) as we ripped up existing carpets in the bedroom. if you want info on the floor guy i used, let me know. good luck!!

we have hardwood through out the whole apartment.... just area rugs in the LR and BR....
are you going to redo them yourself (DH)? or have a company come in?
if you having a company come in, i would just redo all of them in one shot....
if DH is doing them, start with one room and see how it comes out....

Hardwood. It's easier to maintain and easier for those with allergies. Our bedrooms all have hardwood floor.

I agree with this.
All of our bedrooms are carpeted right now but it was my intention to laminate AJ's room and put a rug down. You can always update, replace, rearrange, throw out an area rug, the same can't be said for carpeting.

ITA; i only have our living room with carpet. Don't want to be inhaling dust and allergens all night!
