Insurance woes-anyone ever successfully appeal?

So...we decide to move onto IVF if this cycle fails...I'd called my insurance MONTHS ago to inquire about required IUIs prior to moving on and was told that that stipulation wasn't on my contract...fast forward to today when my dr's office calls and says that I was rejected already..I called the insurance and they said I'm supposed to do TWELVE cycles..that's NINE more months ON TOP OF the two years we are trying-calling the appeal line tomorrow..anyone have experience with this?? Thanks!

I won an appeal. I was not covered out of network for IVF even though I had out of network medical coverage. I put something together for reasons why I could only use the one faciility that was out of network and won. Maybe your dr could put something together to state why you MUST do IVF. GL.

I'm in the middle of trying to get an IUI waiver so I can start IVF. I asked around and quite a few people have been able to do it. First of all...ask your Dr. to request the waiver if you can. You will need a reason why IUI will likely not work...low motility, morph issues, implantation issues, age-old eggs, etc I would ask the Dr. to intervene if you have a legitimate reason before trying to deal with them myself.

I called the billing contact and she said she sent them everything they requested and apparently, that's all she does...should I call my dr. directly about a waiver or wait to hear back from the coordinator for my insurance? Thanks for the stories..it helps!

I would call the Dr. or the nurse that handles the patients for IVf and see what can be done.

The nurse that handles IVF is out until Aug. 30-there was also a mention of potential grants, but wonder how they are awarded...I guess I will try to ask for an IUI waiver, talk to this nurse and the dr. if I have to..I think I am in a holding pattern until either the insurance coordinator returns my calls or the nurse returns...ugh...thanks, all, for the advice...
