Party Food
Looking for some new things to make for a party (60ish people) I feel like every party we have ziti, sausage and peppers, chicken parm or some very similar variation.
Looking for ideas and recipes!!! Or maybe even a whole menu!

Re: Party Food
I am having a little party and was also looking for some ideas. So far I think I decided on:
6 foot hero & pot/mac salad
Strawberry Spinach salad
Rigatoni ala vodka
Meatballs
Bowties with brocolli, garlic, oil and romano cheese
Sweet & Sour kielbasa
Then I'm going to use my crockpot and make pulled pork and shredded buffalo chicken & put them out with small buns so everyone can make their own sliders. I'll put coleslaw next to the pork and carrots/celery & bleu cheese next to the chicken

Re: Party Food
I know this is a silly question....but how do your make your bowties. I always hate how anything I make in garlic and oil comes out.
( i did pulled pork for DS b-day last year...i had that, ribs, mac n cheese, beans, cornbread etc...it was a hit)

Re: Party Food
How funny, garlic & oil is one thing that always comes out pretty good for me. I just put some evoo in a pan and slice a ton of garlic super thin. I sautee it on a low heat until the garlic is soft, then I mash it into the oil so it practically dissolves (I LOVE garlic taste but don't love chunks of it). While this is happening I cook my pasta & broccoli. I add the garlic oil to it. Add some sea salt & pepper and a ton of freshly grated cheese.

It also helps to let the bowties sautee in the garlic and oil for a few minutes before adding the broccoli/serving.

Re: Party Food
I am doing a carribean theme in a few weeks for Labor Day weekend
pernil (roasted seasoned pork shoulder) yellow rice red beans grilled sweet plaintains fried salt and garlic tostones mojo marinated grilled chicken tropical fruit salad mixed greens and avocado salad
one or two roasted pork shoulders can feed an army. add rice, beans and a veggie, plus maybe some store bought empanadas and you are set!

Can I have your recipe for sweet and sour kielbasa? It sounds awesome.
I am sick of the typical Italian food too. For Derek's b-day we are doing hero's and salads but also doing a tray of BBQ ribs, BBQ chicken pieces, mac and cheese, beans and corn casserole. I did something similar for TJ's 1st b-day and it was a hit.

Hi sorry, I forgot to post! I haven't made it myself but have a friend who makes it and it's always awesome (and I am not a kielbasa eater typically). it can also be done with mini meatballs. Super simple:
2 pounds kielbasa sausage 2 cups ketchup 2 cups grape jelly
cut up sausage and add it to crockpot with ketchup & jelly. Cook a few hours. You can also change it up and use heinz chili sauce or bbq sauce in place of the ketchup. I've also hear you can use cranberry sauce in place of the jelly=)
