Those trying for #2 or more
that had prior IF treatments...do you find it scarier the second time around? Right now I'm having a full fledged panic attack thinking about doing IVF again. We are scheduled to start a cycle at NYU in September.
Heres the thing...my first IVF which resulted in DD was pretty easy. I didn't find the procedure bad at all.
For some reason now I'm just thinking of all the things that can go wrong, what if, etc. and I'm flipping out. The RE gave us a high chance of success with IVF but I'm super nervous.
I guess I'm also venting...it doesn't help that AF showed up 10 days late and I had that little bit of hope that maybe just *maybe* we got pregnant on our own. Oh well.

Re: Those trying for #2 or more
Im doing it again. The first time was much easier. This time I have to worry about DC and I, of course, am having lots of complication this time.
Even still, once you get back in the "game" of it all, it becomes routine.
I do have a hard time feeling guilty a little for dc though. Im suffering from OHSS and have basically been stuck in the house for the last two weeks. I cant really play and do things that I want to and that sux, but then I think how much it will be worth it in the end to give DC a brother or sister.

Re: Those trying for #2 or more
I just conceived my 3rd throught the help of an RE...My DS was an IUI...DD was an IVF and this one was FET...
For me, some of the stress was off when trying for #2 and #3 because I knew I "could" get pregnant and stay pregnant which is a huge factor in of itself , kwim ??
With # 1 there was always the "what if I can't"...Not to say that once you conceive once, there is a guarantee of any sort for another- but some of the worries were lessened by the fact that I had expereineced a successful pregnancy before...I also knew it would not necessarily be as easy the 2nd time because I was older ( and I was right)..So keeping realistic and determined was very important for me

Re: Those trying for #2 or more
Thanks Ladies! I feel a little better now. I have to go for my 3 day bloodwork tomorrow which I'm a little nervous about...wish me luck
Bops...I really didn't think of it like that...it's a positive thing that I was able to get and stay pregnant with DD so I'm going to try to keep a positive attitude.

Re: Those trying for #2 or more
I had unmedicated IUIs for both Abby and Zippy. I actually felt A LOT less anxious the second time around because I knew exactly what to expect and what my protocol would be when I started. I only became nervous when I lost the pregnancy before Zippy because I already had 2 losses before Abby. What got me through it was knowing I already had one healthy child so I knew I could do it again, even if it took a bit longer.

Re: Those trying for #2 or more
#2 was stressful because I felt aot of pressure that it needed to work.
Reason 1 - it was my last allowable attempt through my insurance
2 - After having testing done on my remaining 6 embryos, 2 were viable and those were the 2 going back. I knew if 1 didn't take, we were done. I had no desire or emotional ability to go through the entire process again.

Re: Those trying for #2 or more
I'm almost ready to start TTC again and so far I'm much less stressed this time around. I think it's much easier not having to have the feelings of what if nothing works and we can never have a baby. For me that was the most upsetting and stressful part of it all. Also, I have 8 embryos left over and the process for a FET is much easier than a fresh cycle. Going into the process I have a lot of hope that it will work.
I'm not looking forward to having to schedule appointments and find someone to watch DS for me. I hate the idea of him bringing him to the office and possibly upsetting someone in the waiting room.

Re: Those trying for #2 or more
Thanks ladies. I feel much better and a little less stressed. I did a lot of reflecting today and realized just how lucky I am to have DD and the opportunity to try again for another baby. I decided to leave everything in Gods hands. Thanks for the advice..don't know what I would do without this board since no one I know really understands how stressful and heartbreaking IF is
