Bicycle related question

I just bought a used bicycle (a Huffy, very basic) to ride around town. Now, I haven't been working out very much so I don't know if this is normal. My mid to lower back area feels uncomfortably sore after two days of bike rides. Each day I rode 15 minutes to the train one way, then 15 minutes back several hours later.

I was kind of feeling like my torso was too long for the bike and that I was a little hunched, so I repositioned myself to feel different. But, I'm not a big bike person - haven't owned one for about 10 years now, so maybe this is normal? What do you think? I know I didn't buy top of the line bike, but still. I feel like my legs should be sore, not my back

TIA!

Re: Bicycle related question

I think it could definitely be the positioning of the seat and handle bars! Try playing around with it and seeing how comfy you are!

Also, make sure your legs only have a slight bend at the knee...if they are too bent this could contribute to you shifting and sitting weird which would cause back pain too!

AHA!!
I think you solved my problem! Yes, my knees were more than slightly bent, and I think you're right - I should adjust the seat and handlebars. Thank you!!

Re: Bicycle related question

How tall are you? I bought a bike last summer and it turns out it is too small for me. I thought frames were a one size fit all type of deal Chat Icon The frame is a 17 and my new bike is a 19.
