Runners Help
So, I just finished the C25K program. Actually, I'm in the middle of week 9 but hope to continue running.
I want to keep the running up and DH is looking for something to get me for our anniversary to reward me. What kind of running gear can I get? I have absolutely no ideas. Looking to spend under $100.
Thanks!!

Re: Runners Help
Congratulations!
do you have an ipod or nano? get the nike+ it's not quite as accurate as my garmin, but it's a heck of a lot cheaper!
what about winter gear? I won $100 at a race and went right to super runner shop and found insulated running tights for $20!! They are $60+ in the winter, but who wants to think about it in the winter so they were clearance.
rain gear?
wicking clothes?
a new pair of sneakers?

Re: Runners Help
Just wanted to say congrats on finishing!! You should try the "One hour runner" program and start working towards a 10k!
All of the above ideas are great!

Re: Runners Help
Thanks everyone!
Can you give me more information on the Garmin and Nike +? I have never heard of either one. I think something that tells me how far I have run and how many calories would be great.

Re: Runners Help
garmin is a watch (usually big, bulky and ugly, but very precise) that uses satelites to measure your distance, pace, time and sometimes heart rate. There are other running watches too (timex, etc), but garmin is the leader and have a few different models at different price points.
nike+ is a very fancy pedometer(measures foot strike, velocity etc) that attaches to your nano and it might be built into your regular ipod (have to check). It's only $30 (if you have the right ipod), so it's much more reasonable. It is not as precise as the garmin, but I have had accurate readings during races sometimes (always have accurate with garmin). I think it's a good starting point, b/c I rarely run without my ipod, but sometimes I really don't want to wear the garmin.

Re: Runners Help
The garmin is amazing! Especially if you are going to start running more distances.

Re: Runners Help
I was looking at the NikePlus sportband online and it doesn't say anything about needing an IPOD. Am I looking at the right thing?
I don't have an Ipod nano, I think DH has a shuffle, but we don't use it very often other than downloading the C25K podcasts.
Why am I so confused?

The Nike+ iPod is to be used with the nano, iPhone or the iTouch. $29
If you don't have an ipod and still want to use the nike+ then get the Nike+ Sportsband $59
I guess most people have iPods nowadays so its easier & cheaper to get the ipod kit. If you only have the shuffle or a different mp3 player then the sportsband is perfect for you.

Re: Runners Help
Thanks everyone, this was a huge help!
If I get the Nike Sportband, do I need any other equipment? I think I'm going to order it today from Amazon.
