HELP!! So Gross! What could be causing this?
I just went to the bathroom downstairs off our den and there are about 50 flies on the window (inside and outside). Next to the bathroom is another door that goes to our backyard and there are a bunch of flies on that too!! I went outside to see if anything is there and nothing is out there. What could this be - it's grossing me out!!

Something dead... gross I know. We had a dead possum in our backyard under our shed ... there were flies every where ! It was not fun !

Could it be animal feces? We found cat feces in our flower bed near the house since there were flies everywhere. I dug out the feces and the flies went away.

If they are large, slow, attracted to sunshine (hence hanging out on the window) they are most likely Cluster flies! I have them too. I have a pest maintence program and they confirmed that's what they are, unfortunately cluster flies aren't covered in my package. They said it would $365 to treat!!! They need to treat I believe sometime between Aug/Sept to prevent them from coming back every year. They are nuisance flies and nothing to worry about, other than the fact that they are gross and annoying! They are not there because of a dead animal only to annoy you!!!
Google them.

Thanks - I think this is them!
They are horrible and come back every year. I have an exterminator who does basic treatment to treat them when they do come.. fly paper and sometimes we do a fogger. It kills them all at once. You can buy a fogger at ACE and do it yourself. We do sometimes. Just be sure to put away alllll food and pot/pans etc. Then i buy the lysol wipes and wipe every surface of the house, vacuum and mop too..
