Re: Coldcuts

My doctor said I could have them...but not everyday. I think I've only eaten turkey a few times since being PG.

Hi, my doctor said not to eat freshly sliced deli meats, unless you heat them to the point of steaming first. I have just stayed away from them. It's one thing I really miss at lunch!!

I was told this as well. For each half pound, put them in the microwave for about 30 seconds. That should sterlize them.

My perinatologist said cold cuts are ok as long as you are eating brand names like Boars Head

This was not on my doctors list of things not to eat and i pretty much eat cold cuts every other day for lunch or dinner. Usually Turkey or Bologna.

Re: Coldcuts

My Dr. said ham and turkery are okay to eat because they are cooked meats that are then smoked.

Bologna, pepperoni, proscuitto are not okay because they are not cooked- just smoked/cured- that makes them at risk for carrying the liseria bacteria. That is also why you cannot have cheese and juices that aren't pastuerized.

Re: Coldcuts

My doctor has never once said anything about not having them. I usually heat them on a sandwich anyway though.
