wanted to introduce myself...
and have some questions. My name is Bali and I have a DD who is 16 months and I really think she is my miracle child. I had a MC before I had her and then it took us a year and a half to conceive her. We started trying for #2 as soon as we got the ok to again. I've now had two more MC in the past 5 months . The last one has just happened and I'm dreading making the apt for the dnc. I told the dr I was looking into going to an RE and he told me that's that not who I need to see. He said I need to see a High Risk Pregnancy Dr. I need to ask my Dr a ton more questions, but do any of you ladies know why he would send me to a High Risk instead of an RE? From what I've read on these boards it seems like who ever has had problems has gone to an RE.
Did you get sent to an RE after test to determine that?
Thanks for listen and any advise is welcome

Re: wanted to introduce myself...
I am sorry to hear of your losses. An RE is someone who helps you GET pregnant whereas a high-risk OB (or maternal fetal specialist) helps you STAY pregnant.
An RE does conduct preliminary exams before prescribing next steps (IVF, IUI...). These exams include bloodwork, saline sonograms and other exams to check your tubes.
I would speak to a high-risk OB. Show him or her your medical records and the reports from the two miscarriages and see what they have to say first. It seems that you are able to get pregnant but unfortunately not stay pregnant.

Re: wanted to introduce myself...
I am so very sorry
I have no personal experience myself, but many of the ladies on here I'm sure can help you...I have heard more than once about the RE's running the recurrent miscarriage panel test ( or something along those lines) I do belive there is one RE in peticular who specializes in this though the name is escaping me at the moment (Dr.Braverman it may be)..Hopefully someone can lead you in the right direction...
Best of luck to you

Re: wanted to introduce myself...
I've also had 2 miscarriages. The RE (Dr. Braverman) did extensive testing to determine WHY I was having the m/c's. Once I got pregnant again and was released from the RE - I then saw a high risk pregnancy Dr for my entire pregnancy. I saw Dr. Kofinas in Garden City. I *believe* that you see the high risk doctor once you become pregnant so that they can monitor you throughtout your pregnancy...know what I mean? As my good friend (Diana712) explained to me - the RE GETS you pregnant and the high risk doctor KEEPS you pregnant.
Best of luck to you

Yeah, I agree with this, Bali. The RE can help figure out what is going on and help you get pg and then you would see the high risk doc for your pregnancy. I had other issues, but that is exactly how I did it and I have had a really great experience using both docs. GL!!!
