Asparagus
Has anyone ever grown asparagus? I bought them this year to grow and I have this ferny plant thats about a foot and a half tall, looks nothing like asparagus?
Any info is appreciated, TIA

I looked up Asparagus on Google and it looks your plant may just be mature Asparagus. Early in the spring you get the shoots you see in the supermarket and those are what is eaten. Pics of an asparagus field later in the year looked like they were fluffy and fern-like.

Oh man the directions said to plant them early spring, so I don't understand how I missed the part that we eat, unless they will come back next year b/c I think I read that they come back

You plant them in the spring, but you shouldn't harvest them until next year. Next years "spears" can be snapped off when they are approx 7" long.

I planted some for the first time this year, too. And yes, next year is when they'll produce. Long time to wait for a few spears, but it's fun at least.
