I doubt it!!!!!
The taxes are so cheap in the Hamptons. You have an acre of property and hugh beautiful house. That's the way Long Island is. Rich people DON'T pay high taxes while the middle class suffer.

While I agree that the middle class is suffering on LI, it's not true that the rich don't pay high taxes. I have an Aunt and an Uncle who both live in Hewlett Harbor and their taxes are absolutely insane.

Re: At least the taxes are cheap
Woops: Edited because I realized. That reserve land cannot be built upon. It was land bought by the state to protect the area from over building. While the owner can enjoy the view they are only buying .62 of an acre. The add is deceiving. My house is similar. I have wooded town property that goes on for several acres behind my house. It looks like I own an estate but I don't... I just get to enjoy the view.

It says that it is .62 of an acre and also states (& outlines) that there are Reserve views. How is the advert deceiving?

I agree. While DH and I are by no means "rich" we do live comfortably. We live in an expensive middle to upper class neighborhood in NJ and our taxes are a little more than double as to what the average on LI is.

Only .62 acre? On LI that's still considered a good size property. I have far less than that and pay much more in taxes. I realize it is far out east though. I just didn't think you could purchase a $2.5mil house and only pay $5k in taxes on LI!

Re: At least the taxes are cheap
Ummmmm I would think that is a typo. My taxes in Riverhead for 3/4 of an acre is more expensive than that. I would think for property that is $2 mil that you would pay more than $5k in taxes.

Because, at first glance, some people might just see the outline of the reserves of an aerial shot and think that is part of the property until they read the fine print. Most houses for sale with aerial shots outline the actual property up for sale.
Edited for spelling

Re: At least the taxes are cheap
Property tax's are funny. In Florida your taxes are based on what you paid for the house. It's like 1% or something so if you pay $500,000.00 for a house you only pay $5,000.00 in taxes.
Its a pro for some but not fair to you if your paying $5k for taxes and next door they only paid $100k SO there taxes are $1k!! Same views, schools, police & fire etc.

Re: At least the taxes are cheap
That may not be a typo. My best friend lives in westhampton beach and pays less that 2500 a year for a little under an acre.
