I have a smaller version and love it. My dh also goes in it so it is not just for kids.

I looked at these briefly. You need a PERFECTLY LEVEL ground in order to install it.
You really don't but it will not look exactly like the picture but the kids see NO difference, just like they don't see the difference when the water is SUPER cold--

I remember he put it up last weekend and he was telling his son it needed to be perfectly level.

We have a different Intex pool but so far we're happy with it. It's small enough that the kids can touch but big enough that I can put my float in it 
We're not ready to take the plunge for a full on pool yet so this was perfect.

We had one and our backyard wasnt that level. It was pretty easy to set up, we had a really fun summer when we had it but the thought of drying it out and then carefully putting it away was too much for us so we cut it up and threw it out after one year. I've been begging DH to get another one this year!

I got one last year for $200. WORST mistake ever!
The pump is not large enough to keep the pool clean.
It's too much maintenance. It gets slimmy very quickly so you do have to clean it every other day max.
I could see little swimming worms in it so I never let DS use it.
In short.... I hated it!!!
I put it on the curb FOR FREE this year with all the gear. Somebody took it. I did not even want to bother selling it.
As far as level ground, yes it need to be levelled especially if you have a slight grade angle in your yard. It's a very slight angle in my yard barely visible but the water does shift to the lower level. So yes, it's true!!!!!

You really should though bc if its on even the slightest slant the pool will slowly "roll" down it. Especially when it rains and fills up too much. Then it will overflow and you'll lose half the pool. This is what happened to us when we had one years ago. All the aggrivation wasnt worth the little relief we got from it.

We had our yard professionally graded and it looks totally flat. WELL, apparently it is not That pool made us NUTS all last summer, we put it up and filled and drained it and moved it 3 friggin times. I was never level. This year, it is still sitting in the shed.

We have one of the larger intex pools (18' diameter round, 52" deep). We love it! Like a pp said, the pump it comes with isn't suffiicient, so we upgraded to a higher capacity pump. I bought it new from a pool dealer on ebay (with a high rating) and they advertised the upgraded pump as an option. I think it was an additional $70 to do that.
We have a volleyball net set up, lots of floats, can probably have 6 adults in it comfortably, and have a lot of fun in it...we're in year 3.
Ours isn't completely level either. The ground is flat, but one side of the pool is about 1-2" higher.
You do need a lot of storage space for it. IT takes up half our shed. And it is a real pool, so all the maintenance that goes with an above ground pool goes for these as well. To me, it was so worth it.

We have no slants like that so it isn't that bad. My dh actually moved it a about a foot and it is totally level now. I can see though if you have areas where there is significant slants that it would not work.

We have one and love it.....DH keeps it chorinated and the filter for ours works fine. Such a relief from the heat down here in NC......the price was right, too!

We have the 15" x 36" one and we love it. Best investment ever and even if we get one season out of it, it was worth it. It's perfect size for DD and for us to float. DD is 39" tall and the water goes up to her chest. We could probably put a couple more inches of water in it but it's fine the way it is.
Our ground isn't perfectly level and we did have some trouble setting it up. DH put some dirt under one side and it's still not perfect but works just fine. He tests the PH and treats with the chemicals. Since it's been so hot, he's had to treat it every day. We have a cover to keep debris out but still have to skim out leaves.

We are not agreeing on when to re do our backyard.
Until we can agree on our home improvement schedule, I bought the 18' x 4'.
I absolutely love it. We have a slight (.5") leveling discrepancy that has not been an issue at all.
We keep up with the chemicals. use the debris cover at night to keep it free from most of the leaves and can fit a few people in it comfortably. Me, DH and DS are in it as often as possible.
I grew up with a pool, so to me, the maintenance is no big deal. I can already say it's worth every dollar I spent.
