I would have DH tell ex-wife that she needs to step up to the plate - that disciplinging him on weekends isn't enough. Also waiting for him to discipline negates her as a parent. Then I would say not to ever lie to me again about my children.

I agree with nthshrgrl. Also ex-wife could be really valuable to her son by giving him a woman's point of view. I think a boy learns how to respect girls from both their mother and father.
It sounds like you and your hubby are going to be his 'stable' set of parents-( not crazy) so you don't want to start any big blowouts with this woman in front of step-son.

I agree with what the above two said you Dh can't disipile him only on the weekends that does nothign he needs the disipline when the situation arises not on the weekend
