i made sure, they were affilated with the hospital close to me, they had good office hours. and the doctor was available to me, even if i needed to page him at 3 in the morning. and i made sure i had a "good feeling" about him when i sat down to talk to him. i didnt want to feel rushed with asking questions, and i wanted to feel like he wasnt pressuring me to accept him as my babies doctor. and i didnt want a doctor who was a part of a large practice, but thats jmo, everyone is different. i like having a nice small office to wait in, instead of a huge crowded one.

All of this is true, it's all about feeling comfortable. I wanted to be absolutely certain that they used single dose vials for all of the immunizations. One doctor's office flat out told me that the whole thimerisol thing is blown out of proportion and that mercury did not cause autism. When I asked why not err on the side of caution and provide single dose vials? He told me that it was too expensive and most people don't want to pay extra for it and that insurance does not cover it. BTW: this insurance thing is total BS. Needless to say, I did not choose that pediatrician.
The one I chose did not look at me like I had 8 heads when I mentioned my concerns about the vaccinations. They have single dose vials and when I asked to see the box before they gave it to my DD, he said that when the time came, that would not be a problem. I liked the fact that when I was assertive about what was important to me they did not look at me like I was nuts and made me feel like I was doing the right thing by asking them about it.
