I got one for Damien and am going on the 15th for this one. For me it wasn't a big deal. They numb the area with a local and then while they do a sono the use this needle to get some amniotic fluid. I didn't even llok at the needle I just watched the sono. It feels like pressure and I cramped a little that day. I stayed home the following day just in case. The worst part was waiting for the results, but in your case I am assuming it is for lung development so maybe the rush the results. HTH

I had one done too. I did not cramp at all but all the test I went home and rested all day. I had it rushed and it took 2 days but if we did not want to have it rushed they told me that it would take over a week.

I had it done. It wasn't horrible but it did hurt. I heard that they numb the area but the doctor that did mine didn't. It was more uncomfortable than painful. I was crampy the rest of that day and just sore in the morning. It look 2 weeks to get the results. It all depends on where you have it done and what lab your insurance makes them send the sample to. My insurance uses Quest labs and the doctor told me it takes 2 weeks to receive anything back from them because of the high volume they receive. DH and I were going to pay out of pocket to keep it at the hospital and we would have gotten the results back with inthe week. Needless to say someone made an error and sent it to Quest anyway and we had to wait the full 2 weeks. That was the worst part of the entire process. In the end we received the news we were hoping for.
My advice would be to see what your options are regarding where they send the results. It would have been worth it for me to pay the $$ and have the results back faster. JMO though.
