sprinkler quote

We got two different quotes for inground sprinklers. They are:

$2450 for 15 misters and 20 sprayers
$4400 for 18 misters and 20 sprayers

Do either of them sound right to you? I was expecting the first quote, but the second quote seems awfully high. Can someone give me some input on why the second quote would be so high?

They are both using hunter products but the first guy is using Rainbird brand misters and sprayers whereas the second guy is only using hunter products.

I can't actually answer your question with respect to sprinklers, but I would honestly get one more quote.

We got quotes for some work on our house - nothing major. Two quotes were around $2,300. One was around $4,750. I was astonished getting these estimates. This involved measuring one wall. All 3 companies got something different -- and we are talking in terms of feet, not inches. One got 12 feet, one 13 feet, and one 18 feet. Yes, 6' longer than another estimate.

I would get more estimates and see if you can get word of mouth recommendations from others. At least if you have a couple most esimates, you'll have an idea as to what the ballpark price should be.

I'd also call up the higher estimate and ask why theirs is $2k more than your original estimate. Also, ask for an itemized estimate so you know what they are charging you for the actual parts.
