co-op inspection?
Did you do an inspection on your co-op? I want to do one but don't want to spend $400 for such a small inspection. Anybody cheaper for co-ops?

I don't think you should ever buy a place without a home inspection. as for price, its based on the size of the place and the company you use.

I owned a coop in queens for 3 years and did not do an inspection. As long as you have your lawyer check the financials of the building and you yourself check the apartment (that last walkthrough right before you close) for any issues you should be fine.

We didn't get an ispection either. Our lawyer said it wasn't needed, b/c most of the things you inspect for are the co-op's responsibilty anyway.
I probably should have though, just so I would have had a better idea of the work that needed to be done.

I dunno if its diff for coops, but we had an inspection done on our condo for like $275 through WINI.com

I agree with this. I also think the bank wouldn't let me go to closing until we had an inspection--so make sure you don't require one.

when we bought our co-op, we were told that an inspection was a waste of money and unnecessary. It's up to you though!

Most coop board do the inspection and then assume responsibility if something is wrong after. Ours did this.
