** What are the rules and regulations of putting in a pool ....
in the Town of Hempstead!
How far does it have to be away from the fence? do you need a separate fence around the pool? do you have to get a permit for it?

Each township/village has different rules. You'll have to check with the township/village hall.

check town of hempsteads website. I did see on the news last night that town of hempstead requires alarms on pools now

I believe this is true for Suffolk as well, but not 100% sure. Before closing on our house the previous owners had to put alarms on all the doors leading to the backyard. The inspector came to check and that was that. I don't think 3 years ago they required the pool alarm also. But the pool alarm is peace of mind IMO! Even if not required it sense movement god forbid something or someone falls in the pool.

its not a law, because I just bought in March and the home has a pool and it wasn't required unless you installed a new pool as of 2009.

yep we dont have one and I don't know anyone who does?
I also dont get how they work. Is it an alarm everyone can hear? Also, what distinguishes an animal from a child?
To the OP, I am TOH and I have a fence that surrounds the perimeter of my yard (6 ft all around). We dont have a fence around the pool itself, just the yard. and its around 3-4 feet from the fence at all points.
