carpet cleaners
when we move into our house we have to get the basement carpets cleaned. any recommendations
should we do it ourselves or should we hire someone.

how bad are they? When we moved into our apartment we had bad stains all over, looked like grease. Then we have a kitten with hairball issues and she got sick on the floor, and DH regularly drops food on the carpet (I swear he's like 3 years old lol). So with a baby coming, I wanted clean carpets so we were going to hire someone but we ended up buying the cheapest carpet steam cleaner from target and it got up all the old grease stains that were here when we moved in, and everything else, as well as the nasty that we couldn't see... the carpets look and even feel amazing.

we rented a machine from home depot, but our carpets weren't that bad.
i think if you want them really deep cleaned to hire someone.
i've seen those stanley steemer commercials on tv...

In the past we used "All American Carpet Cleaning". They always have coupons in the "ValPaks"....not that you really need the coupon....Just tell them you saw the special and they give you that price.
We have a high-ranch and had our livingroom, hallway, stairs (up and down) and 3 brs done for $95 and they did an amazing job!
Their number is (516) 433-5200 and they serve ALL of long island.
Since then we bought our own carpet cleaner though b/c we have very light color carpeting and a puppy with big paws that like to get dirty  I like to try and clean them once every few weeks.
We bought a Hoover Platinum Carpet Cleaner and it is AMAZING. Best thing we bought for the house yet!
