did you ever really miss students?

It's horrible-today was our last day of school, and I literally started crying. I teach 7th/8th grade, and I won't be back next year, because they condensed my position. It's a private school, so there's def. a different atmosphere, but I am shocked at how much I miss my little kiddies

I left classes last year, and again in october when I had a leave replacement, but I never felt like this before.

Did this ever happen to anyone?

Yes. Often.

Absolutely. I felt this way this year, especially, because this was honestly the first time in 10 years when I loved every single one of my classes. I even wrote each class a letter for the last day of school and started to get choked up when I read it to them (which was ok because my juniors, at least, all started crying, too. ) It's just a sign that you definitely have the right job (even though that doesn't make it much easier...)

Yes, I do miss some....not all of them lol!

Last year, I taught 5th grade with an awesome group of kids that I had student taught with when they were in 2nd, taught library when they were in 3rd and then I was their self-contained teacher for 4th and 5th grade. The last day of school, my friend came in and he was like "Omg, it's like Niagra Falls in here there's so much crying!" i just had a hard time letting those kids go! So yes, I did really miss them!

Yes. My first set of 1st graders are graduating this year (from 5th) and there are a few that I'm going to miss seeing. It's not so much missing them b/c the school year is ending but rather missing them as they are older because you take for granted seeing them every day and there are just a bunch that are amazing little people!

Ummm, I cry like a baby every year. I am a special education teacher and have my students all day ... so we get attached.

Usually my most difficult kids cry the most ...

Last year my boys (3 of them) all practically 6 feet tall ... crying ... of course I lost it with them! But, you know what? we fill such a void in their lives and they need us as much as they test us sometimes.
