PLantation Shutters
Thinking of doing this instead of wood blinds..
Are they expensive? Any different than custom blinds? PITA to install?
How are they with keeping light out? Same as regular blinds?

I had them growing up...I don't know about pricing but I love them..as for light..you just have to lift the wooden pole in the middle...maybe a bit less light but beautiful all the same.

we're doing them in our living room and kitchen / dining room combo. We did the faux wood so it was cheaper. I'll let you know what I think after the installation

My parents have them - real wood that matches their entertainment center. They are great at keeping the light out. They were professionally installed.

We have them in our dining room & living room and love them! (Pics In Album)
They do let a lot of light in. You can adjust the center to allow light in like a blind or throw them to the sides like shutters if you want as much light as possible to spill in. I would also definitely have them professionally installed.
