chocolate and blue

We just bought a new couch. It is chocolate brown. The accessory cushions are blue and lovely, but do not go with the wall paint (a goldish tan)

I was planning on painting the room this summer - I was going to paint it Oakridge beige or something like that - which has a slight green/khaki tone to it. It would be easier, since that is the color of the rest of my downstairs (which has an open plan), but the blue pillows wouldn't go.

They are accent pillows and don't need to be used, but if I were to use them, what color would I paint the walls?

anything in the gray family with a blue undertone
anything in the blue family
you could also do a tan with brown undertones

my personal pick would be a gray with a hint of blue in it

Re: chocolate and blue

either gray or blue, but pillows can always be replaced or covered. They sell covers for accent pillows now. Just a thought. They have them at BBB. I believe the are $10 each. I think they are for 18x18 size pillows. HTH! GL! Chat Icon

And I love blue & brown together. Chat Icon But brown & green is a great choice as well. Chat Icon

But if you went with a beige/tan, then you can do any accent color you want really. Chat Icon

I think it might look more attractive to buyers if the whole space is one color. So I would paint the LR the color you mentioned and get a couple of new throw pillows that match better.

thanks for the suggestions! I like the idea of recovering the pillows (I was originally thinking of just buying new ones)

We have espresso couches, tan carpet, and we painted our walls a gorgeous blue - BM Yarmouth Blue. Harbor Haze is also really nice.
