Curious about the banks requesting docs..
I've heard many a LIFer complain over all the docs the banks want you to send, but what else do they request?
We are using Continental, and they pre-approved us back in jan, and now that we are in contract, all they wanted was pay stubs of recent time, our 2009 w2s, and 2 months of bank statements.
What else can they ask for?

Re: Curious about the banks requesting docs..
They asked my DH for his companies (that he works for) tax returns!
ETA-now I am remembering the horror-they also asked for every single deposit and withdrawel from our bank account. That took some time to get.

Re: Curious about the banks requesting docs..
lets see we are doing bank of america. we were pre-approved but through a different lender we decided not to with
We had to send first
2 months bank statements (3 accounts) 2 years w-2 30 days paystubs
Then they asked for: - 3 months banks statements - copy of termite inspection - some hud paperwork signed by us and seller - a real estate cert. signed by us, seller and real estate broker - a letter explaining my name change on credit report (just got married) - a letter explaining our address discrepancy (PO box vs. physical address) - Letter verifying our rent - 12 months cancelled checks rent - some insurance disclosure we had to sign - copy of our insurance - something we had to sign saying where we got the downpayment/closing money (wedding gifts-cash - we had to disclose that) - copy of SS cards
I am sure I am forgetting stuff but it was crazy

Re: Curious about the banks requesting docs..
they will ask for ss cards, drivers license...once they really get into the file they may have questions regarding jobs or something on your credit or about a deposit or withdrawal in your accounts.
if time goes by then they will want updated bank statements. the more time goes by the more they will ask.

Re: Curious about the banks requesting docs..
I inherited money from an estate so I needed to provide a last will and testament to prove that I was entitled to it and didn't steal it.
I am also an officer in a family corporation that generates income. I had to provide the tax returns for that business for the past 2 years. I also had to show that there was no mortgage on the property my family owns - there hadn't been since the 1940s.
I provided (though not requested) a photocopy of my marriage certificate that reflected a legal name change as I was named in the above under my maiden name.
I had to provide affadavits of the sources of large deposits into my bank accounts that were gifts and did not have to be repaid. Those who gave us the gifts, had to sign the affadavits as well as DH and myself.
I was asked to provide W-2's TWICE.
I offered them my first born, but since she is not potty trained, they said "No thank you." Go figure.

Re: Curious about the banks requesting docs..
We moved money from one bank to another and had to prove that.
401k statements Last 2 months paystubs
What really irked me was they kept asking for the same sh1t over and over!
