Do "standing ab" exercises work?
I've done 2 days (Monday & Wednesday) of standing ab exercises..
From Exercise TV on Demand:
AM standing abs Defined.dancer.abs
They all are abdominal exercises that don't involve getting on the floor/onto a mat.... could these work?
They are FUN! And I feel the burn the next day....

Dance is my primary way to exercise - I have a strong core and defined abs and I don't really get on the floor much to do ab work at all. So I'd think that the 'standing' ab work should work really well.

Yes. Why not? As long as you contract the muscle you are targeting, then yes.

Those are my favorite ab exercises!!!! I find they work better than your standard floor work!!!

To add. Some of the "ab" work really work your hip flexors when doing it on the floor or hanging by your arms and bringing your knees to your chest (knee raise).
Standing raises the level of difficulty because you also use your core to stabilize yourself.

They definitely are great to do! Although I'm a firm believer that abs aren't made in the gym, they are made in the kitchen! In other words doesn't matter how many crunches or standing exercises you do, it's the diet that matters most!
