Re: LaMaze?

I'm taking classes recommended by my dr. I just started them... 4 nights from 8 - 10 pm and then it ends with a tour of Winthrop.

Re: LaMaze?

So funny you posted this. I was thinking of posting something about this in the train on my way into the city.
I was wondering who had taken it and if they saw any benefits. I still have a long way to go but I wanted it to find out ahead of time. My Dr. gave me a list and they actually recommend that you take the classes.
For those that got the video from the library...how long were you able to keep it for?
And how much those classes run for? I know it might be a little different for everyone but I was wondering....
Thanks!!! Chat Icon

i believe the classes are about $150..but southside offers a class for free(where i am delivering)but dh has no time for classes so the library lets you take it out for 21 days..

Re: LaMaze?

I know a lot of people who said it wasn’t worth it but I gotta say I loved it!

Now, I don't have kids but I was my BF's coach w/ her twins last year and we enjoyed lamaz. We learned a lot. I credit most of this to the teacher. She is a L&D nurse at the hospital we were delivering at so that helped.
Just seeing the different tools & hearing the actual progression of labor, I learned a lot & got some great tips to help her through labor that we used & that worked. The whole breathing and position thing was useless but the knowledge we gained was helpful. It just made a scary time for us a little better. It was nice to have someone other then the doctor to ask questions too.

Re: LaMaze?

I took Hypnobirthing, not Lamaze. I don't believe in Lamaze as being a good way to birth so that is why I looked into another type of class.

I think knowledge is power and you should understand and as prepared as possible for birthing your child. JMO

Re: LaMaze?

I took it. I am not sure how the breathing will work when I am really in labor but the instructor was GREAT and if anything, I learned a lot about the whole process. Plus she took us on a tour of the hospital which I wouldn't have done otherwise.
