I own the little green bissel steam vac for spot cleaning and stair runner. LOVE it I also recently rented a rug doctor from stop and shop. With the rented vac I steam cleaned 3 area rugs and the runner in the upstairs hall. Worked great. The total cost for rental and shampoo was around $40. Rental is for 24hrs.

i used stanley steemer because we were having people over for my FIL's funeral and it was obviously last minute..they were able to come the same day i called and they did a good job. im at work now so i dont have the biill to tell you what i paid but they give quotes over the phone. you can also try sears they have a cleaning service too.
