What is the Purpose Of Me and My DH HAVING To Take Doxycyclone For Five Days?

I cannot remember when I did this two years go with DD why we needed to take them. That was a Fresh Cycle. I am going for my water sono on Thursday and hope to have a FET next month and we were told again, we BOTH need to take them for five days, starting the day BEFORE my water sono.

I am concerned for this reason! We are leaving for Florida for a long weekend (Sat-Mon) AND we need to take them through Sunday. I am afraid of the upset stomach for one and secondly it says to stay out of the sun! Well, thats impossible in Fla! Any suggestions? Any ladies have a bad stomach from them?

TIA

I was told there is a bacteria couples pass back and forth to each other. While it's not harmful under normal circumstances they like to be extra careful during IVF's. I am a little confused why they would have your husband take it though if you're doing an FET.

Also, you take it because there is a risk of infection with the water sono.

As I'm typing I thought of something, DH might need to take it so he doesn't keep giving it back to you if you BD before the FET.

Yep. They treat it once a year when you are doing IF treatments at my RE's office.

They have us take 5 pills all at once though.

Me and DH both took this for a week during my second IUI cycle.

I heard it was to clear out any possible underlying infection Chat Icon but yea, I was always just a little confused by the purpose of it as well.....

ETA: Neither of us had a bad stomach at all .. and my DH is VERY prone to stomach related issues and he was totally fine!! I think you'll be ok!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon I think my DH actually took it with acidophilus supplements.

So strange how all RE's do things differently....Neither DH or I ever had to take it, except for me I think after my fresh IVF cycle ...
