I don't know how much more I can take...
Our spare bedroom shares a wall with the bathroom. We have a bookcase along that wall, and there is WATER DAMAGE all along the bottom of it. The carpet is soaking wet. The shower is right behind the wall (in the direction of the shower spray; not behind the shower head). Water must be coming into the bedroom from the shower.
So we've lived in the house for 2 and a half months and have water damage coming at us from 3 places: the patio, which was sloped towards the house so our den got all the runoff; the roof/skylight which is leaking so much that we have water damage on the 1st floor; and now this.
PLEASE tell me it's something simple like we have to re-grout the shower tiles. Between the patio and the roof I can't tell you how many thousands of dollars we've had to shell out. We just moved in 10 weeks ago. I can't take this anymore.

Re: I don't know how much more I can take...
I've been in my house a little bit less then you and I have a huge list of problems. We have an entire wall inside and outside that has to be torn down because we discovered a leak. we discovered both of our bathrooms with showers are leaking into the walls so they both have to be torn out It stinks but it is what it is. I was in the house 2 weeks and the washer and dryer broke, a pipe burst trying to disconect it, soaking DH and I and I had 2 MAJOR gas leaks!! I don't know how or why, but DH and I haven't stressed about it one bit, we actually laugh about a lot of it. I guess I kinda prepared myself since I read so many posts about things like this. the other day DH and FIL tried to turn on the pool filter and pump and it nearly blew up! its completly shot along with the cover that is completly torn off.
Hang in there it will get better. there WILL be a day when things stop breaking
ETA: we have spend a few thousand already and need to spend a lot more.

Oh wow. I guess it could be worse. Thanks for putting things in perspective! I'm so sorry you're having all these issues - I hope things stop breaking for you too.
On a positive note, I called my "go-to" guy and explained the problem and he seems to think it's as simple as the there not being good enough caulking between the tile wall and the tile floor right next to the shower. It's always wet there after we get out of the shower and I never think to sop it up because I figure it's just clean water. Oops. So I'm buying a vinyl shower curtain liner and I'll line the wall/floor and see if the bedroom dries up. If so, that's my problem and it's a fairly cheap/easy fix. There was no water damage in the bedroom two weeks ago while I was cleaning it for my sister, so I'm hoping there's nothing bad going on behind the walls.

This happened to me where we live now. We had water pouring down from the tub into the basement - we redid the caulking around the tub several times but to to no avail. Finally I figured that it may be the old grout aso we removed the old grout and redid it and it totally fixed the problem so I would give that a try...

Re: I don't know how much more I can take...
oh the joys of homeownership! I feel your pain. We are in our house for almost 3 years and we are still finding things to fix or replace because now they are falling apart or breaking. Once when my DH was away on business the furnance broke. Water everywhere....headed straight for the newly done family room, but thank god i caught it in time to turn the pipes off and clean up the water. now i check the furnance room every day just in case. And when you do a project, whether to fix something that is broken or not, expect a lot of the time to pay more and be realy excited when you don't have to pay more. It becomes easier. Try not to stress too much, but I completely understand the stressing all to well. GL!
