When are you considered "in contract"?

After both parties sign, or after the fully executed contract is in the possession of both attorney's?

Re: When are you considered "in contract"?

just heard back from my lawyer-- it's only when you have the fully executed contract in your possession, which is what I thought. Someone can sign something and never send it, so you have nothing to prove all parties are in agreement.

Now I probably gotta stall doing anything with the contract on the sale of my place until we get the house contracts back.

We were not in contract until both parties were signed. The contract itself had been en route via mail service.
