Trainer Ques

So I started working out with a trainer - 1 day per week but she really kicks my *ss. I signed up for a month - is that enough time to see results? I don't want to be disappointed and then not sign on for more sessions..I need "short term" gratificationChat Icon

Re: Trainer Ques

So you will have 4 sessions with a trainer. You can take what she teaches you & do it on your own in between your meetings with her. I think you'll see some results by the end of the month.

Re: Trainer Ques

I would take what she teaches you and do it yourself another day a week. You'll see better results if you do it at least 2x a week.

Re: Trainer Ques

if you only go 1x a week and don't go on your own, i'm not sure that you'll see results. when i went, i went 2 -3x a week. for me a lot of it was motivating to get there in the first place, that's why i went to a trainer.

if you go to a trainer 2x a week or supplement your 1x with 2-3 other workouts, i think you'll see results.

good luck!

Re: Trainer Ques

Thanks ladies! Just to be more specific:

- I got one day a week for 30-45 min and do a total body work out and I do 30 min of cardio before on my own

-- 2-3 days a week I do cardio on my own for 30 min.

-- I do abs every other day

Re: Trainer Ques

I would try to do a total body workout at least 2x a week...Im not sure you will see the results you are looking for just by doing it once. Also, your diet is the crucial part of this!

Re: Trainer Ques

What are you looking to do? shed weight? tone?

if you're looking to shed weight, maximize those 30 minutes by doing interval training on the treadmill (or whatever machine you use to do cardio)
and I would also try and up it to at least 45 minutes.

Also, if you want to see/feel any results, you will need to up your workouts from 1x to at least 3x a week...

Does your trainer have you maintain a log of what you're doing?

I would use that log to form your own workout when you do workout alone.

Change it up for everyday.

You don't want to walk into the gym and waste time figuring out what to do.

Yeah I must say - that is the biggest tip I learned from the trainer. I was all about staying in my heart rate zone and doing cardio for 45 min or so. Then my first day with her she had me sprinting like a maniac every 1-2 minutes I was like "WTH?!" but I'm going to stick with it for a few weeks and see if it works. I've hit a rut so I'll try anything to get our of it
