I could use advice. Who usually throws the baby shower? Does the future father pay anything or how involved is he? Any advice please help. I have to plan a shower I do not know where to start, and I can already forsee some potential issues, any advice would be so appreciated.

Re: Baby Shower
My mother threw mine. She didnt get any money from DH for it. My DH gave my mom a list of who to invite then he got me there without me knowing anything, that jerk, then he went to play golf.

Re: Baby Shower
It depends...
My mom is very sick and DH, SIL and MIL chiped in and split it three ways. I have been to some thrown by the grandparents to be and some thrown by friends of the mom to be. Every situation is different. I would ask her DH who would be the best person to help you figure everything out.

Re: Baby Shower
The babys father is thinking and acting that he is the only one who should be throwing the shower. I wasnt sure about that and today I had words with him about it.

If he's insisting on paying, then let him pay. Why make yourself nuts? I think that really anyone can throw the shower these days. My mom, my aunts, my sister and my grandmother threw mine.

I'm sorry. I hope you didn't take what I said the wrong way. Is the mother-to-be expecting you to plan the shower and he doesn't want you to? Maybe he can pay and you can plan it? Sorry if I offended you.

Re: Baby Shower
I don't think a DH should throw a shower..that is like him asking for gifts. I think he can help financially if the other parties are unable, but to actually plan and send the invites is not really a great idea IMO. Again, JMO.

Re: Baby Shower
My husband through my shower. He paid for it 100%.
edited to say that..
I also think that there is nothing wrong with that either...Every situation and family is different.
He didn't want any of my family or friends to have to spare the expense of throwing a big shower (we both have huge families)...and I don't feel that it ever came off as him asking for gifts...If that were the case, then wouldn't people think that registering is like asking for gifts?

Re: Baby Shower
It isnt that I do not want him to be part of or that i mind the expense. It is more of his taking over attitude. I do not trust him to let him run anything, he is a flake.
I was thinking end of sept, first weekend in october, he wants july, NO WAY, too early
