Maintainance
I'm in a place now where I'm not looking to lose anymore weight -- I could use some more toning, but overall I'm content with what my body looks like. I'm also not goal-oriented, nor to I have time or interest to train for races, marathon's etc. I just like to work out because I enjoy it and I know it's important. I also lack a lot of time, hub and are separated, 2 small kids are with me and I work 4 days a week.
I was on a good fitness routine for about 2 yrs but this past winter, I've really neglected excercising. What's interesting is that my clothes are actually too big on me after cutting down on my fitness routine for a while, not sure what happened maybe lost muscle?? or stress??...but I continued to lose weight, despite eating regularly and not working out. At this point, I'm happy with my size/#s on the scale.
I like to eat carbs, fattening foods, so I know I have to watch it, because I'm short and do tend to put on weight however I do balance by generally eating healthy.
So, what do those of you who don't have specific challenge/goals, and have limited time do to maintain your weight/health? I know 30 min of cardio is recommended for heart health. How much toning should I do?

Re: Maintainance
Not sure i understand the question totally but I am at a pretty happy weight...yeah I'd like to lose 5lbs but its not worth sacrificing certain foods that I enjoy fairly regularly....and I'd drop the 5lbs of flab if I exercised more. In any case, I've been the same weight for years (125) and really the only thing I do to maintain is workout or eat less when I feel fat!...typcially I feel fat when I weigh even a pound or two more than usual so it makes me want to work out or eat less.
Is that kinda what you were asking??

Re: Maintainance
Yes, sort of what I'm asking LOL. I'm wondering what exactly should I be doing, or what others spend time doing as far as their workout routine when they don't have a specific goal. I see a lot of posts on here and with people IRL about training for marathons, or trying to lose weight and what they are doing. Sorry if this is a silly post!

Re: Maintainance
Well for me, I usually just run since I haven't really made time for anything else, and it works, and I don't gain weight.
I try to run 3-4 times a week (at least) 3 miles at a time.
I SHOULD be doing more weight lifting for toning but I haven't dedicated any time for that...got 2 kids under 3 so having time & extra energy is an issue!
Last time I sat w/a personal trainer he wanted me to do cardio and weight training alternating every other day, 6 days/week.
If you don't have a specific goal its hard to plan any workout routine. I guess for me my goal is to not gain weight so I just do the minimal to maintain that.
In the future my goal will be to tone, so I will do cardio & focus more on weight lifting, alternating every other day like the trainer said.
