Anyone else get wished a "Happy Mother's Day?"
Two people today said it to me today...made me laugh...i guess it's like being wished a Merry Christmas when you are Jewish or a Happy Hanukkah when you aren't  I guess it's still a nice sentiment regardless...and I am a mother to 2 wonderful pups!

I work in a school and many students and some parents wish me a happy mother's day. They know I don't have kids which is funny but I just take it as a well wish

my neighbor asked 'are you a mother?, not yet right?' like answering his own question. i said no i'm not (but in a friendly way). at least he asked first

Not yet...tomorrow will be another thing, I'm sure. I remember getting so upset last year. I was having a really hard time dealing with the infertility, so DH took me out for drinks and some noshing. The ding=bat waitress wishes me a happy mother's day. I was like, what kind of mother is out (for hours, drinking) without her kids!!

Yes, but I am a Godmother and this weekend was my Godson's communion and birthday, so I appreciate the sentiment. This year I got a Godmother card, last year I got a Dogmother card. Seriously, a greeting card from the dogs.  My sister got it for me, not wanting me to feel left out.

That's really nice. I used to give my mom card's from our cat and 'sign' them with a pawprint.
I'm the only aunt to my sister's two children, and it would be nice to get a card from them. I'm also Godmother to my niece.
As I explained it yesterday to my DH (interpret the D any way you wish), I feel lost on Mother's Day. My mom died, I have no aunts or g'mas, nor do I have children. When I go out, I get wished a happy mother's day by complete strangers. It just hurts.
I'm going out at lunch today and buying myself a bouquet of flowers. Flowers always make me happy.

Yes by my mom but bc of my puppy babies. But it does sting bc I want to be a mom and unfortunatly I am not, w/o going into details I should have been a mom this year

I had the young guy at the pastry shop handle it in a very nice way. As he handed my purchase he said "Happy Mother's Day... if you're a mother, and if not, pass it on." For some reason it touched me - I think the thoughtfulness that he wanted to offer a greeting, but didn't want to offend if it didn't apply and the concept of passing it on was really sweet.

Us too. We love our dog but the whole day stung thinking about our baby in heaven.

I actually did - by the lady at Home Depot - what she said was "Happy Mothers day to you, even if you are only the mother to a pet" And I am...so there!

One of my 6 yr old students said " Miss Natalie I made you a mother's day card but I left it home" and then another 6 yr old girl said to her "Miss Natalie is too skinny to be pregnant and have a baby"

yea... it happened at least twice this mother's day. Possibly more. I received some texts too wishing me a happy mother's day. I'm not a mother and had a mc in January... so IDK... I don't get friends texting me that! I can see someone not knowing anything and just saying it to me. But friends who know well what I've been through and that I don't have kids just makes me...
