D, do you own the house in SC? You might not be eligible--we weren't since we had owned our condo.
My mom got it, and it was applied to her taxes for the year. She didn't get a check for the amount.

Re: First Time Homebuyers $8,000 credit???
The credit is something that is reported on your tax return. If you qualified this year, you could have reported it on your 2009 tax return. It affects your taxes, and based on the rest of your tax situation, you would get hte money back that way in form of a refund.
You can FM for more info, I am a CPA.

Re: First Time Homebuyers $8,000 credit???
i just posted about my refund the other day. it took no more then 4 weeks for me to get mine (even though the IRS says it should take up to 12 weeks to process)
I also submitted my tax return in the heart of tax season so I was shocked to see it in my bank account so fast!
HTH

Bought the house this February, filed my 2009 taxes in March and amended them the next day to submit the paperwork for the refund.
It's been 7 weeks and I'm still waiting!
