Need help with color scheme...
Having our house painted---the siding is a real nice khaki color, trim white, shutters black and front door is going to dark red. We have a covered porch, which the screens will be painted white. Trying to pick a floor color for the porch---leaning towards black to match the shutters, but I have no idea! Any thoughts?

black is good, but maybe you could do a darker khaki color then the siding. Nice contrast.

Is it a wood porch??? Jen - I can't believe you didn't suggest what the YHL people did. I LOVE it.
They did alternating stripes. If you can convince your DH to do this, go for it!!!!
Otherwise - I would do black railings and the floor a khaki color.

We have little builder's porch right now - it's just 2x4s put together. I TRIED to convince DH to do it - because we did paint it a two tone but he wasn't having it.
I should send him away for a long weekend and just do it while he's gone.

I would paint/stain the porch floor a neutral color (either the same color as the exterior, a shade lighter or a white-wash).
IMO black would be too dramatic not to mention high maintenance (show wear more quickly and require constant cleaning/brooming).

ITA. I Would not do black. If it was a slate floor I would be all over that, but for wood a neutral color ed stain would be just as nice.
