Cinco de Mayo Party...
My friend is having a cinco de mayo party.... she prob has the apps and food covered..(think she is catering from Moe's)
so I am trying to think of something clever to bring... could be app, pickings food...but I guess a dessert makes the most sense...
any fun/different/exciting ideas!?!?
ETA: sorry just read further down the board and saw a very similar post! OOPS!

Re: Cinco de Mayo Party...
flan is sooooooooooooooooo easy!!
you will find tons of different recipes, but here is my basic.
1.5 cups of sugar, carmelize it on stovetop. once it is a liquid, pour it into round cake pan. let it settle and cool.
then in a bowl, mix 8 eggs can of condensed milk, sweetened 1 tbsp vanilla
pour on top of hardened sugar.
now place cakepan in a bath. get roasting pan, lay dishtowel on bottom, add water to pan till about 1/2 way up cake pan.
put in oven.
i usually do 40 minutes at 400 degrees.
you want it to be a firm custard. then take out of oven and flip onto cake plate.
everyone loves my flan...except my mil, but she is a bit ch
