We had one and had a lot of issues with it. But you do get endless and immediate hot water. I would talk to a plumber-I have a great one Campy's Plumbing

Re: tankless water heater???
WE had one installed in June 2007. Excellent investment and a great decision for us. Endless supply of hot water, uses less energy (water is heated when used, not being heated all the time in a big tank). The only con I can think of is that in the morning, when the water hasn't been run all night, it takes a minute or two for the hot water to get flowing. Other than that, we love having it and have no issues.

Depends. Ours is an electric ignition gas-fired one. We paid roughly $800-$1000 for it (I forget, plumber got it for us at cost) and $400 for installation (took 2 men all day!).

That seems to be the biggest downside with them, but I have a traditional tank, and first thing in the morning, I also need to run the water to push all of the cold water that was sitting in the pipes all night, so there probably isn't that big of a difference.
I'm planning on getting one when I replace my current tank. It's only about 3 years old, so I'm not in the market yet.
